Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy comes with practical questions. Here are the ones we hear most — and if yours isn't here, a free 15-minute consultation is the easiest way to ask: book a free consultation online · 920-234-6842.

Do you accept Forward Health or Wisconsin Medicaid?

Yes. Mend Counseling is in-network with Forward Health (Wisconsin Medicaid). If you have an HMO plan, we need to check your specific coverage before your first session — call us at 920-234-6842 and we'll verify your exact benefits.

Do you take Quartz insurance?

Yes, Mend Counseling is in-network with Quartz. Coverage details can vary by plan, and if you have an HMO plan, we need to check your specific coverage before your first session. You're welcome to book a free 15-minute consultation and we'll confirm your benefits with you.

Do you offer in-person sessions, or is it only online?

Both. Most sessions are by secure telehealth, available anywhere in Wisconsin. Select clinicians also offer in-person sessions by appointment at offices in Appleton and Mequon. Book a free 15-minute consultation and we'll match you with a clinician who fits how you'd like to meet.

How soon can I get an appointment? Is there a waitlist?

There's currently no waitlist — we have immediate availability for new clients. The first step is a free 15-minute consultation with Jonathon Jacobs, which you can book online anytime. From there, we'll match you with a clinician and get your first session scheduled.

Do you see children?

We work with teenagers and adults. We don't provide therapy for young children, but if you're looking for support for a teenager, we'd be glad to talk through options in a free 15-minute consultation.

What does the free consultation involve?

It's a free 15-minute conversation with Jonathon Jacobs, our clinical lead. It's a fit check, not a therapy session: you share what you're looking for, ask any questions about insurance, format, or the process, and he helps match you with the right clinician. You can book it online at a time that suits you.

Do you offer EMDR therapy?

Yes. EMDR is available at Mend Counseling, including with Abby Janssen, an EMDRIA Certified Clinician. EMDR is offered by telehealth across Wisconsin, and select clinicians may offer it in person. Book a free 15-minute consultation and we'll talk through whether it's a good fit.

What are your hours?

Our office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm CT. You can reach us at 920-234-6842 during those hours, and you can book a free consultation online anytime. Please note: Mend Counseling is not an emergency service — in a crisis, call 911 or call/text 988.
