You don’t have to carry this alone

Depression can make ordinary days feel heavy. It can drain your energy and motivation, dull the things you used to enjoy, disrupt your sleep and appetite, and make it hard to concentrate or keep up with the people who matter to you. It can also come with a harsh inner voice that says you should be able to snap out of it. You can’t — and you were never supposed to do this by willpower alone. Depression is common, it is real, and support helps.

How therapy helps with depression

Depression therapy at Mend Counseling begins with a clinician who listens without judgment and takes your experience seriously. Together, you’ll work to understand what you’re going through, notice the patterns that keep you stuck, and build small, doable steps toward feeling like yourself again — at a pace that respects how hard even small steps can feel right now. Your counselor will honor your values and perspective, help you develop coping skills for the hardest days, and work with you on goals that are genuinely yours. When medication could be helpful, our team also offers psychiatric evaluation and medication management, so your care can be coordinated in one place. Progress with depression is rarely a straight line, and that’s expected — your counselor will help you notice the shifts that are easy to miss when you’re in the middle of it, and adjust the plan with you as things change.

Therapy from home, anywhere in Wisconsin

When you’re depressed, leaving the house for an appointment can feel like one more mountain. That’s why most of our therapy is offered by telehealth, through secure, HIPAA-compliant video on SimplePractice — and some of our clinicians offer in-person sessions at our Appleton and Mequon offices if you’d prefer to come in. You can meet with a licensed Wisconsin clinician from your own home, whether you’re in a city, a suburb, or a rural community hours from the nearest office. Many clients find that being in their own space makes it easier to show up consistently — and consistency is where progress happens.
