When worry won’t switch off
Anxiety can look like a mind that won’t stop racing, a body that feels on edge for no clear reason, trouble sleeping, or a constant low-level dread about work, family, health, or the future. Sometimes it shows up as panic. Sometimes it’s quieter — avoiding things, overthinking everything, feeling irritable and not knowing why. However it shows up for you, anxiety is one of the most common reasons people reach out for therapy, and it is also one of the most workable. You don’t have to just live with it.
How therapy helps with anxiety
At Mend Counseling, anxiety therapy starts with being heard. Your clinician will take time to understand what your anxiety feels like, when it spikes, and what it’s getting in the way of. Together you’ll build a clearer picture of your triggers and patterns, learn practical ways to calm your body and quiet racing thoughts, and set small, real goals you can actually reach. Sessions are a place to be honest without being judged — many clients tell us that simply having a steady, confidential space to sort through what’s weighing on them starts to loosen anxiety’s grip. You don’t need the right words or a plan before your first session; describing what’s been hardest lately is a perfectly good place to begin.
Care that fits your life, anywhere in Wisconsin
Anxiety therapy at Mend is offered by telehealth, using secure, HIPAA-compliant video through SimplePractice — and some of our clinicians also see clients in person at our Appleton and Mequon offices, if you’d rather meet face to face. You can meet with your counselor from home anywhere in Wisconsin — no commute, no waiting room, and no need to find childcare to get support. Our clinicians are licensed in Wisconsin and experienced in helping people work through anxiety alongside the other things life brings, including depression, stress, grief, and relationship strain. If your anxiety is connected to a difficult or traumatic experience, we also offer trauma therapy and EMDR, which can address the roots rather than just the symptoms.
